Damn Nature R U Kidding Me With This of the Day: In one of the most harrowing pieces of footage to emerge in the aftermath of the 2011 Sendai Earthquake, the resultant tsunami overruns the city of Kesennuma, leaving very little in its wake.

I don’t believe in existential Karma, where someone sends justice when evil has strewn bodies in its path. And nobody deserves to have their home wiped from the face of the earth like this.
But if there were existential Karma, the town of Kesennuma would be on the list. It’s the home of the main shipping fleet and processing plants that are (or were) eradicating sharks by the thousands for their fins. Shark Fin Soup is a delicacy and a symbol of wealth in affluent Asian cultures, notably the Chinese.
One sees a horrible tragedy here, which it is. Others might see a balancing of the scales in the battle between Man’s hunger for symbolism versus the sharks’ right to exist unmolested, which it could be. For me, I don’t believe in coincidences. If someone wanted Kesennuma to disappear from existence, humans could not have done a more through job here than Mother Nature.
